Helen Allingham, after her husbands death would come down down to the Isle of Wight in the summer to paint. She stayed in one of "the Victorian Row" of houses on Gate Lane (see painting of cottage) where we live. <br />Hooke Farm that you refer to, was the family home of Robert Hooke - scientist.
